replace a back cache card 256Mb to 512Mb+battery
Hello,
On my server ML350-G6, I would like to add a disc to the raid5 already existing (G6 disc of 1To,same as the others one). I read that I need a battery back cache and a 512 memory write cache module to extend.
I bought the following package :
HP - 462967-B21 - HP - 462967-B21 - 512MB P-Series Battery Backed Write
After a cold installation, the server won't boot the smart array. The message is :
1783-Slot 0 Drive Array Controller Failure!
[Controller self-test failure]
Thank you for your help !
Sebastien

Re: replace a back cache card 256Mb to 512Mb+battery
You are running either an SA-P410/P411 controller, correct? Is the firmware (6.64 should be latest) up to date on the controller? Also, have you tried returning the server to the original configuration (256MB cache module) to see if it works?
I'm wondering if the 512MB cache module might be DOA as this model of server was retired over 7 years ago and goes EOSL this year, so I assume the part you purchased was refurbished.
