sata drives ML 350G6- where do I start!

Hi all

I've just bought a compaq proliant 350 ML G6. I need some help with HDDs on what goes where? Forgive me but I am not a hardware dude.

If I buy sata 2.5 HDDs plus caddies can I just "hot" plug them in and boot or do I need to do something else?

Also the drive bays for the 3.5 sata drives too big for 3.5 drives with caddies. So what do I need to buy to be able to fit regular 3.5 SATA drives in to them?

Thanks

hi,

You need to use hp labeled hard drives corresponding to your hard drive cage (3.5 or 2.5 inch).

You can find in the quickspecs of the server all the supported hard drives.

What's special about HP drives and why can't I use any SATA disk with a caddy?

you probably can use non-HP drives, but "your mileage may vary". There are third-party trays and used HP trays. Search for HP drive tray, instead of caddy
