sbs 2008 on ML350 installation

I want to install microsoft server sbs2008 on a ml350. now when i start the machine with smartstart i don't have the option to install sbs2008 but only sbs2003. i have tried to update the firmware.... when i start the machine with the dvd in,(i have place a dvd -rom) there is no reponse at all. what else can i try? many thanks

I'm not sure that the Xeon processors for that model of server supported EM64T memory extensions. If they are not x64 then you won't be able to load SBS2008 as it is a 64bit OS only due to the inclusion of Exchange 2007.

If they do support x64 then you will also need to make sure that you have the latest SmartStart x64 CD. The v8.20 x64 edition can be downloaded here

Also note that you will need a minimum of 4GB of RAM in the server. The installation process will let you install Server 2008 but when you get to the SBS part it will fail.
