Re: server is unresponsive when transferring files
try disabling TCP Offload Engine and RSS from the network configuration utility. When enabled those option can cause known performance issue.I have attached a screenshot.
If that does not help:
Which PSP version are you using?
Try with PSP 7.91 - the newest NIC drivers are there

Re: server is unresponsive when transferring files
I had exactly the same issue very recently, where the Actual "Server Unresponsive" was due to the "Drive Cache" being disabled.
I believe copying "small files" across the network on this server is not an issue.
Enable "Drive Cache"; or try adding 512 BBWC to your controller.
Regards.
PS: I recognize, you hail from Orissa; Nice to meet ya.

Re: server is unresponsive when transferring files
I am referring to the DISK WRITE CACHE. This can be found in the Array Configuration Utility. However, before you enable it, Be aware of the negative impact as well.
Refer:

PS: I am not aware of the Controller you use. Hence this could be irrelevant, but worth a reading !! ;) Good luck !

Re: server is unresponsive when transferring files
When I go into array config it says no compatible controllers found - however no of the other tools work as I don't have SNMP install (which I am going to do after I reformat...again).
Enabling the disk cache in the windows device manager has helps a lot however I was like to make my settings optimal as possible as it clearly is a disk issue
cheers
