Re: setting up raid 5 using 3 physical scsi discs
What is the exact Server Model? Are you refering to DL360 server?
DL360 Scsi server has only two HDD slots. Hence, Raid 5 can not be implemented with internal storage.
You can configure raid using HP ACU software which is integrated with smartstart CD.
thanks,
Aftab

Re: setting up raid 5 using 3 physical scsi discs
ML370 G5 comes with the following controllers
Base Models : HP Smart Array P400/256 MB Controller (RAID 0/1/1+0/5)
Available upgrades: 512 MB memory BBWC module for, or battery for battery-backed write cache (BBWC) RAID 0/1/1+0/5/6.
Performance Models : HP Smart Array P400/512 MB BBWC Controller (RAID 0/1/1+0/5/6)
Entry Models : HP Smart Array E200/64 MB Controller (RAID 0/1/1+0)
Available upgrades: 128 MB memory module for RAID 0/1/1+0/5, battery for battery-backed write cache (BBWC).
So Please check your server model as ML370 G5 Entry model which comes with HP Smart Array E200/64 MB BBWC does not support Raid 5 by default and you need to upgrade BBWC.
Part no. : 351580-B21 (128 MB BBWC (Battery-Backed Write Cache) Enabler)
else if you are just looking for utility to create Raid 5 then use ORCA (F8) during post or HP ACU from smartstart CD.
HP ACU guide :
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00709035.pdf
HP Smart Array P400/256 MB Controller (RAID 0/1/1+0/5) supports Raid 5 so shouldn't be any issue.
hope this helps,
Aftab
