smart start 5.0 error loading system partition

Unable to load system partition (smart start 5.0) when using Adaptec 39160 dual Ultra3 adapter as the primary controller. Error posted: No drives found on the primary controller.

Adaptec diagnostics find the hard drive.
Using system config, port 1 of the 39160 is set to 1st.

Able to proceed and install SCO Openserver 5.0.5 using EFS 5.40 instructions.

Any ideas on how to create this system with a Compaq System Partition?

I am also interested in this point. i am using an Adaptec 3200S controller and my on board find no drives. Whenever I "configure hardware" my boot controller is reset to on board SCSI 2. I am also unable to see my controller in system config, but can set the onboard to 3rd. Any ideas woudl be very gartefully received.
