smart start server burn in test

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question so please let me know if I am in the wrong place.

Some time ago I saw someone doing what they described as a "burn in" test on a new proliant server that had just been built. What this did is write data to the disks and memory blocks etc and basically give the machine a bit of a thrashing like it was in production.

They did this from the smart start cd (5.5 I believe), for the life of me I am unable to find how this was done.

Thanks

Re: smart start server burn in test

Hello everyone,

I have found the answer. It was not run from smart start etc but rather from the Compaq Utilities (F10 on boot).

Cheers

You can do this also with booting a SmartStart CD 6.00 or greater, but only for Proliants Generation 2 or 3. There is a Computer Diagnostic Tool, where you can run this test.

Thanks Oliver,

Yeah I knew this one, due to the fact that gen 2 and 3 have a much improved BIOS and have done away with the utilities. Thanks for the post though.
