system management alerts on Proliant

I am looking for a simple and inexpensive way of having my Proliant servers send out an email when a hardware component fails.  I cannot at this time get into setup of an expensive and complicated server management platform.

For example with Dell machines I use a batch file and a simple SMTP utility (blat) to send out an email  when a hard drive or power supply fails.  I do this with just the server management app and without any centralized management platform.  Is there something similar available for Proliant?

Hi,

From Gen8 servers on (with ILO4) you can do email alerting from within the ILO. G7 and before you will need to install the HP Insight Agents software which can be found in the SPP Service Pack for Proliant software bundle... These agents on top of a running OS will send you emails as well.
