trying to configure iLO - DL360 G4

I have a DL360 G4 that I am trying to configure the iLO console. I reboot and press f8 and variuos other funtion keys to get to the rbsu - like the iLO manula says. When I get there I am not sure what to do becuase the manual doesn't give specific instructions. I have RedHat ES 3.0 installed on the server.

How do I get iLO on-line.

Thanks.

Here is a list of the commands I can run:

rbsu> HELP
Valid Commands:
HELP
EXIT
QUIT
SHOW BOOT
SHOW CONFIG [SCRIPT|OPTIONS]
SHOW DATE
SHOW IPL
SHOW PCI
SHOW SN
SHOW PID
SHOW SYS
SHOW TEXT [POST|SERVER|ADMIN|SERVICE]
SHOW TIME
SET BOOT
SET CONFIG
SET DATE
SET IPL
SET PASSWORD [ADMIN|POWERON]
SET PCI
SET SN
SET PID
SET TEXT [POST|SERVER|ADMIN|SERVICE]
SET TIME
HELP [|] displays detailed information about a given command
or lists a given TREE of commands.

Me again,

sorry, the first link in my last post seems to be broken. Try the second link, there will be a link to the ILO User Guide on this page.

Re: trying to configure iLO - DL360 G4

I have that guide and here is what it says:

To run iLO RBSU:
1. Restart or power up the server.
2. Press the F8 key when prompted during POST. The iLO RBSU runs.
3. If prompted, enter a valid iLO user ID and password with the appropriate iLO privileges (Administer User Accounts>Configure iLO Settings). Default account information is located on the iLO Default Network Settings tag attached to the server containing the iLO management processor. If iLO has not been configured to present a login challenge to the RBSU. No prompt will appear.
4. Make and save any necessary changes to the iLO configuration.
5. Exit iLO RBSU.

Not much detail.

In my original question you can see what my options are and none of them look iLO related. I am either in the wrong place or something isn't setup right on the system.

Re: trying to configure iLO - DL360 G4

Hi,

If i press F8 on my DL 360 G4 (with a keyboard and a monitor locally connected to the server) i get a menu with all the functions described in the manual.

Looks like you are using the command line mode accessable via serial connection or ssh from the OS. A manual for this mode can be found at the same page i have posted and is called "Integrated Lights-Out 1.70 Scripting and Command Line Resource Guide".

This two ways to access ILO are different and therefore there are two manuals ;-)

Hope this helps,

Kai-Uwe
