turn off raid on a hp proliant dl380p gen8

Hello,

i have hp proliant dl380p gen8 and using 5x300 gb hp sas disk,

Can anyone tell me how I can turn RAID off on a hp proliant dl380p gen8. I just want the disks connected directly without any RAID like c,d,e,f,g drives

is that possible ?

 thanks

What disk controller are you working with?

'B' series controllers can be set to plain SATA mode

'P' series controllers are RAID only

'H' series controllers are HBA controllers with no RAID

Gen8 'P' series controllers are RAID only.  You cannot disable RAID.

Re: turn off raid on a hp proliant dl380p gen8

I have an ML350p Gen8 with a P420i controller with disks visible directly to the OS.

I had to enable HBA mode (pass-through) using ssacli outlined in the following instructions

https://systemausfall.org/wikis/howto/Disable%20HP%20Proliant%20Hardware-RAID

If you need to remove a logical volume after bootup is complete (because the controller automatically creates the lv during boot), then you may use this handy reference to delete the lv using ssacli
