upgrade from NT to WK3
i have a NT server which we use as a file server. I have another machine with Windows 2K3 + SP1. I have to migrate the data from NT to Windows 2K3. The NT server has many shared folders accessed by various groups.
Can anyone advise me on how can I move the files with the current permissions. also is there anyway to copy the groups from the NT box to the new one. Also how can I make the new server secure. I do not want everyone to acccess the folders.
Please advise and thanks in advance.

Re: upgrade from NT to WK3
Hi Donkarnash,
Please refer to the links below which would help you in Migrating from Windows NT to Windows 2k3.
Download the Active Directory Migration Tool(ADMT):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=788975b1-5849-4707-9817-8c9773c25c6c&DisplayLang=en
Heres an article on using the ADMT to migrate user accounts from NT to W2003 AD:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832221
Here's one on migrating group policy:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317367
Hope this helps !!!!!
Regards,
rmn
