win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

ProLiant ML110 G2. Windows 2000 server.

after installing Pro Liant Support Pack the Log Off got really slow.

support pack I down loaded from here
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22272.html

is it normal that after instaling that support pack log off takes almost 1 minute??

before support pack it took just a second.

what is wrong now?

Re: win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

The support pack isn't supported for install on any 100 series proliant.

I'd recommend opening the services applet and stopping the System Management Homepage service. Now try to log off. The logoff will likely be much faster, since this is really one of the few things which might install when you run the support pack.

The SMH may be causing this to take longer, because it's disconnecting ties with the local SAM. The time this takes will likely be reduced with future versions of this.

Re: win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

thank you for reply. is there some way to uninstall this support pack?

is there any support pack for ML110 G2? any other recommended management tools?

the only reason I installed Support Pack was that I wanted to have some tool where I can see if ther are any failures in the system (one of SATA hard disks fails etc). Is there any tool what can do that?

For example Dell has for that purpose OpenManage Array Manager. Is there something similar for HP ProLiant ML 110 G2?

Re: win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

If this were a 300 series proliant (or higher) the support pack would install and this would include managability features.

If you're worried about being notified about a SATA drive failure, then the "SATA RAID Event Notification Daemon for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003" can be used for this:

Re: win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

First of all, the PSP should not have installed because each component should have reported that it is not supported for installation on this machine. If some components did install, visit Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs to un-install.

For any ProLiant, visiting http://www.hp.com/servers/swdrivers lets you select the platform and OS and it will display only the software available for that machine.

Re: win2000, ProLiant ML110 G2, support pack and slow log off

How does this Event Notification tool work?

I installed it, but does not appear in Start menu. I read that it works with 6 port SATA, but I have only 4. Does it work with 4 port SATA, when I have RAID1? How?

One tool what I found that shows my RAID1 and 2 disks is HP storage manager
