wont boot after SP6a is installed

I have a proliant 3000 P6/333 with a single 9.1 gig hd. I formatted the drive and installed NT 4.0. It boots fine each time until I installed Service Pack 6a. After installing SP6a NT prompts for a reboot and when I do, the server stops at the first blue screen where it gives the memory and OS information. It won't go any further. I have let it sit there for almost an hour and still nothing. Is this a known bug? If so, is there a fix? Thank you in advance,

Re: wont boot after SP6a is installed

After installing SP6a, it is probably overwriting the Compaq driver for your SCSI ports. After running SP6a please run the NTSSD/setup.exe from the Smart Start cd and reinstall the Compaq SCSI port drivers.
We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: wont boot after SP6a is installed

Hello,
You may also need to update your CPQARRAY.SYS by downloading a softpaq from Compaq.Com site. The Soft paq u need is CP001586.

Re: wont boot after SP6a is installed

Hello, Mark was right you need to run the latest Smartstart. Running this will update all of your Compaq software and drivers. This is the first thing Compaq stresses when upgrading a Windows service pak.
