Hi I'm experiencing a very slow transfer rate to my novel compaq proliant server , this is happen when trying to restore data from tape drive ( nt arc serve to novel ) toyed standard copy to novel file server (pl 1600r) very slow copy back to nt Fast .
Copying data betwwen volumes on same server slow too
NSSD and firmware updated could this be a hardware issue ?

Re: writing to drive
I would suspect this to be more of a firm ware or a software issue, rather tea a hardware issue. Recommend verifying that you have the latest BOOS running on server (Dec.'2001 or June '2001, depending on ROM Family) and the latest drivers from Arc serve. If still having problems, run the Server Diagnostic Utility to see if there are any hardware problems. If so let us know.

Re: writing to drive
When copying files to your Novell server does the server build up a large # of dirty cache buffers? If so you need to tune your server. The Novel web site has several good articles with suggestions on how to maximize your server performance. Search for "tuning a server" or " dirty cache buffers"
