x16 connector layout for x8

Quick question, maybe a bit elementary :)

Is it possible/allowed to install PCI-e x8 RAID card into x16 Connector Layout on the Proliant servers?

Yes, it is possible and supported.

It is one of the design features of the PCIe standard.
