40/80 GB DLT

Hi,
iam using compaq ML530 server, with internal compaq 40/80 GB DLT with ARCserve 7.0 back up software on Netware 6 server. Compression light is ON on DL tape drive, iam using 40/80 GB tape. issue us that it seems it never compress the data because a back up data of 41 GB it will ask for a second tape and ARCserve doesnt have any software compression. Any help?
