600 servers not giving their product numbers in HP SIM
Hello
We have 600 HP ProLiant DL380 G3, G4 G5, who not show their product numbers in HP SIM. I heard that this can only be adjusted in the BIOS. Is that really true, or is there also an way to script this or automate this with an HP Tool? I would not like do this manually for this amout of HP Servers.
Some information:
HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) - Deleting and Adding HP Integrated Lights Out (HP iLO/iLO 2) Shows Multiple IP Addresses
Solution
On checking the MP xml reply, the UUID was invalid.
How to set UUID on the server:
a) UUID = Serial Number + Product ID
b) To set serial number and product id you need to go to BIOS setup -> Advance Options and set them. This can be done directly or via Remote console into the server via iLO.
c) In case either serial number or product id is not set, UUID will not be set on the server and as a result MP XML reply will not have the UUID.
Further checking the HP System Management Homepage, the Product ID field was blank.
