BL460c and 8gb memory

After installing Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on a new BL460c with 8gb of RAM, I'm trying to get Windows to recognize all 8gb's of memory. Right now the BIOS reports the 8gb but not the OS. It only shows 3.25gb. I've tried adding the /PAE switch to the boot.ini file but Windows freezes upon a reboot. Booting to Safe Mode and removing the /PAE reference allows Windows to restart normally but I'm back to square one.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Thx

Hi John,

Do you get any "memory Threshold errors" in the IML logs ???

Refer:

Re: BL460c and 8gb memory

Thanks for the reply,

I have read that document already, I'm seeing no memory errors in the IML and I'm already running I15-6/28/07 which is a later version than is suggested.

Anything else you could suggest?

Re: BL460c and 8gb memory

I just applied the latest from
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/27857.html

and no joy. Windows still hangs with the /PAE switch. Still reporting 3.25Gb of ram.

Thanks anyway,

John

Yes, I have exactly the same problem as you on a new BL460c. My server runs Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2

Re: BL460c and 8gb memory

/PAE works for me in the same configuration, 4*1GB and 2*2GB, at least my servers hasn't frozen since they were put in production last week...

Running WTS.
