Bad magic number

I've booted my Compaq Neoserver to the prompt and get "bad magic number" when I type in commands from the listing.

I'm trying to remedy a configuration problem.

How can I log into the operating system?

Re: Bad magic number

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the disk has some errors on it.

If it will not boot at all and you are running some kind of *NIX OS, then you should be able to find what you need in the man pages for the commend

fsck

Unfortunately, I am at a M$ machine right now so I cannot get you all the information, but it should be available through the man pages or probably through the I-net.

If I am completely off base, please forgive the illogical ramblings of the insane...
