Can not install a USR 5631a modem rs-232 on server

Hello.
I have an ML150 server G5 and on it i had a USR modem rs-232 modem using for fax server in SBS 2003 O.S . Suddenly when I restart server after windows updates , the server did not recognize the Modem!!I set it up on com1 port but the server couldn't recognize it.The modem works , cause i tried to check it in another PC. I don't know what else i have to check on Server! Any suggestions/help ???
Thank you

Have a look at the following KB article that discusses phantom devices in Device Manager. You may want to perform the steps mentioned in the article to clean up the Device Manager database and redetect the modem.

Re: Can not install a USR 5631a modem rs-232 on server

Assuming the same serial cable was used to test the modem on both servers, it sounds like the serial port on the server where the modem doesn't work has failed.

You could try a null modem cable between a desktop/laptop and the 'bad' server. Using HyperTerminal or something better you could test the serial port.
