Changing Remote Insight board info

I am trying to change the server name on the iLo as a vendor instaled it with their lab server name. How does one do this without restarting the host server itself?
THanks,
D

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Login to the iLO.

From the Administration tab click Network Settings.

In the Advanced Configuration Parameters section you'll see an iLO Subsystem Name field.

Change the iLO Subsystem Name to the required hostname, read the note at the bottom of the page, and click the Apply button.

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Kedd,
Thanks for the response.

There is no iLo sub parm in the Advanced Config section, only Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition II board Name, which does not contain the value I want to change.

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Your subject mentioned a Remote Insight Board, and the question concerned the iLO (Integrated Lights Out). I chose the iLO when providing an answer, but the intent is the same. You can change the Lights Out hostname from the field I specified on an iLO, and you can change the Lights Out hostname you specified on a RILOE-II.

The only other hostname I can find in either the iLO interface or RILOE-II interface is that of the server itself.

Where are you seeing the incorrect name?

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Hi Kedd,

I do very much appreciate your efforts.
When in the Advanced Config screen, at the very top of the screen, Server Name, logged in user, etc.

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

I see the following on a configured RILOE-II:

Server Name:
Remote Insight Name:
Current Local User:

Server Name and Remote Insight Name must be different since they represent different devices in DNS, WINS, etcetera.

Are you trying to make those the same?

If so, may I recommend something like the following:
Server Name: hostname
Remote Insight Name: hostname-lo

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Kedd,

I am trying only to change the server name. The ilo name will be different.
The issue here is that I see no place to change the server name itself.

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Are you saying that the RILOE-II's stated Server Name doesn't match the real Computer Name found in Control Panel -> System -> Computer Name?

The RILOE-II should just be reading Computer Name from the operating system.

If you do change the Computer Name, it will require a reboot.

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

The iLo was tested in a LAB server, then installed into a production server. The server it is in now does not match what is displayed in the config. Before the iLo card was installed inito the current server, the server was shutdown, so the card should have picked up the new host server name. As it did not, I need to change it. How can this be done?

Re: Changing Remote Insight board info

Okay, now I understand.

You'll need to install the Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility. From HPONCFG you can reset the RILOE-II to factory defaults and configure as needed.

Please note that there is a RILOE-II firmware level of v1.13.

If I remember correctly, it won't even request a server reboot.
