Compaq Proliant DL380 G2?

The boss got his hands on a Compaq Proliant DL380 G2.

He has dumped it onto my desk and asked if it's worth getting up and going...

The CD drive is busted, the old floppy drive is busted and it has no OS.

Does have 5 HDs... i don't know much about these old servers.

Do i even bother with it? Anyone still using these things?

Yes! I absolutely recommend that you do get it back up and running. But perhaps at least replace the CD-ROM drive so that you may install an operating system if your not using Altiris scripts for PXE.

I am currently using that exact same server now as a DC for my company network (of 50+ Workstations) and it is just so reliable. I am using Windows Server 2003 and have use 4 HDDs in RAID-5 (For users' data) and 1HDD in RAID-0 (for OS though I hope to add one more drive to make it RAID-1)

Good Luck
