DAT 72 with DL380G4 (em64t) on RH ES 3.0.3

I can't use a DAT72 on the DL380G4
System : RedHat Linux ES 3.0.3
kernel : 2.4.21-20.ELsmp
adaptateur : RAID bus controller: Compaq Computer Corporation Smart Array 64xx (rev 01)
module : cciss.o and st.o

when the st.o module is loaded the message is : st: Unloaded.

and mt -f /dev/st0 status return : /dev/st0: No such device

how can make a backup with the DAT72 ?

Hi Chpontoise:

You will have to install a separte scsi adapter to connect that tape drive to this server; the emedded 6i controller dosenot support tape drives connected externally; only drives that are supported as backup devices are Hotplug on that server.

Try using a pci scsi adapter to connect that drive.

Hey, look a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank's for your answer Tarek Kawach, but the DAT72 is in the DL380G4, it's a hotplug hp storage works DAT, in the left corner of the DL380.
Very strange...

Une chance : j'ai le même matériel, cad DAT72 sur DL380G4, RedHat ES3.
# export TAPE=/dev/nst0
# mt rewind ==> fonctionne bien
# mt status ==> fonctionne bien
SCSI 2 tape drive:
File number=0, block number=0, partition=0.
Tape block size 65536 bytes. Density code 0x47 (TR-5).
Soft error count since last status=0
General status bits on (41010000):

# tar cvf $TAPE ./home ==> ...
tar: /dev/nst0: n'a pu écrire seulement 0 sur 10240 octets
tar: Erreur non récupérable: fin de l'exécution immédiate

Et idem avec "dump"
# dump -0qau /home
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Jan 10 19:47:01 2007
DUMP: Dumping /dev/cciss/c0d1p2 (/home) to /dev/nst0
DUMP: Label: /home
DUMP: Writing 10 Kilobyte records
DUMP: mapping (Pass I)
DUMP: mapping (Pass II)
DUMP: estimated 196242 blocks.
DUMP: Volume 1 started with block 1 at: Wed Jan 10 19:47:03 2007
DUMP: write error 20 blocks into volume 1: Invalid argument
DUMP: Do you want to rewrite this volume? - forced abort
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.

What can be the problem ??

Thank you in advance.
