DL 145 G3, problem with windows 2003 installation, did not find harddisks

Got a new HP DL 145 G3 today, managed to configure array etc. But when I boot from microsoft win 2003 R2 standard for HP proliant servers, it always ends up here no matter using which array controller driver I downloaded. really got frustrated by HP servers and support. No documents I can find anywhere her. Would really appreciate if someone can help me out so I can go home with my dog. been working whole day on this.

Annie,

Are you using the smartstart disk? If no is this not compatible with your server?

Re: DL 145 G3, problem with windows 2003 installation, did not find harddisks

HI There,

It seems i am not aalone in this frustrating quest for solution.
I got the same problem with my new Proliant DL 145 G3.
Can't get Windows 2003 R2 installed although i downloaded the correct driver from HP Site.
I installed two 160 Gb Internal Sata HD and are recognized during server boot, but not upon Windows loading.
I inclusivelly have bought a HP Floppy drive that HP support suggested (HP Ref DC361B)to load the controller drivers but no can do.
Please help me because i am on a countdowd to install a new app and without server i can't. Regards

Re: DL 145 G3, problem with windows 2003 installation, did not find harddisks

Hi there,

Finnaly we have managed to get Windows 2003 R2 running on the DL 145 G3.
After insistance with HP Portugal, we finally help.
HP was advising us the wrong driver (Windows 2003 SAS/SATA)to install and recognise the onboard controller.
Here are the steps
-Get and USB Floppy drive to connect to the server front ports
- If you don't have any or if the one you have doesent work, buy the HP DC361B drive -http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product.asp?sku=2543889&jumpid=oc_R1002_USENC-001_HP%20USB%20External%20Diskette%20Drive
- Go to HP server drivers page http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/69_6307.html
- Download the Chipset Broadcom HT1000 Serial ATA Controller driver for Windows driver http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26956.html
- Extract into a diskette
- Connect the USB Floppy and place the Windows 2003 R2 Disk 1 on the server and boot it
- When Windows 2003 starts to load press F6 and point to the floppy for the controller driver and continue installation.

There you go.
Such a simple solution but it took HP support quite a while to acknowledge that the driver was incorrect.

Good Work to all.
