DL320 Memory Error
I am trying to upgrade the memory in a Compaq DL320 server. It had 2x128MB DIMMs in it, and I want to install 4x512MBs.
If I fill all four sockets with the 512MB DIMMs, I get a beep code indicating bad memory (1 short, 2 long).
If I leave sockets 1 & 2 with the 128MB chips in it, and fill sockets 3 & 4 with the 512s then everything will boot just fine and it will see the additional memory in the third and fourth slot.
If I fill sockets 1 & 2 with 2x512, leaving 3 & 4 empty, I get the same error. In order for it to boot correctly I have to put the 128MB chips in slots 1 & 2.
Can anyone help? This model has a 2GB maximum memory limit, so I don't think that is the problem.
Thanks,
Stephen Sanders

Re: DL320 Memory Error
Make sure use right memory and Verify your Bios (System ROM)
512 MB = 177628-001 or 159227-001
