DL370 G6 SAS Disk Drives, SFF vs LFF reliability
I'm looking at the new DL370 G6 server as a candidate for a Oracle Linux Database Server. It will run a very important application that I can't really afford much downtime due to drive failures, and it seems these days that all brands and models of hard drives are nowhere as reliable as they used to be a few years ago.
Is there a significant difference in the long term reliability of the 2.5" Small Form Factor SAS hard drives versus the 3.5" Large Form Factor drives?
I will, of course, be running RAID1 on the operating system volume, and RAID10 on the application and database volumes.
