DL380 G3 Battery depleted
Hi
I have 2 DL380 G3 servers.
My problem is that I"m getting an error:
Post error: 1793-Drive array- array accelerator Battery depleted-data loss.
What can I do?
Should I replace the battery or only update firmware?
Than'x
Shay

Re: DL380 G3 Battery depleted
Hi Shayhanya
If you have a add on card ie 641/642/6400 then firmware is a must.

Ref 2.68A
If onboard update the firmware but more then lickely you will have to replace the battery

Re: DL380 G3 Battery depleted
Actually, I've had issues with all controllers with a battery backed cache. The firmware upgrade is an absolute necessity. Do that, reboot, check it. Reboot again may be necessary and you may want to let it charge for a bit in between.
The other issue I see is that the error you're getting suggests that the battery actually ran down and the controller thought that there was data in the cache. If this server shutdown abnormally and wasn't kept powered on, you may well have a depleted battery/data loss condition. Nothing you can do but have users verify their data.
If it was only off line for a short period of time, you probably are dealing with a bad battery. Either way, upgrade the firmware. I've had to do it with every G3 I own.
