DL380 G3 - ML350 G3 Memory Compatibility,etc..

Hi everyone,

We have some HP DL380 G3(Xeon 2.8 - 3.06 GHz,FSB 400 and 533 MHz) and ML350 G3 Servers(Xeon 2.8 GHz,FSB 533 MHz). We consider RAM Upgrades. The DL380 G3 Servers have 4 of their RAM slots full. If we take out some of their RAM modules, will we be able to use them in the ML350 G3 Servers - the codes are 300678-B21(2x256 MB) and 300679-B21(2X512 MB) ?

My second question is about possible memory module combinations in these 2 types of Servers.

I understand the following is true:

1.Even number of slots have to be occupied - 2,4 or 6. For instance, you can't have 5 1 GB modules in 5 slots. Is this correct ?

2.The different types of memory modules can only be installed in pairs(as a kit of 2). For instance, you can't have 3 1 GB modules in 3 slots and another single 2 GB module in the fourth slot.

My third questions is:
If we have more than 2 GB of RAM installed(3 to 6 GB), what are the steps to follow to ensure proper functioning of the Operating System(Windows 2000 and 2003 Server) and SQL Server 2000(Enterprise Ed.) - making use of all installed RAM.

Any help will be appreciated.

Best regards.
