DL380 G3 with poor RAID 5 Performance.

Hello.

I have a DL380 G3 that is acting very strange. It's using a Smart 5i RAID controller without the battery and we have x2 36GB 10K hard drives in Mirror Raid 1 (no problems) and x4 72GB 10K hard drives in RAID 5.

HOWEVER we're having a big problem with the second array. It's on a second channel so separated out, but our R/W transfer speeds (it seems that network use may be capped) is only around 4MB/s .

I've used HD Tach and got good results, and when I copy from folder to folder on the array, transfer times are good in Perfmon. But as soon as the transfer is finished, BOOM we're back to 4MB/s...

I have the accelerator turned on, but I'm probably going to turn it off in the hopes that it will fix things.

Thanks for all the help

It sounds like you really do have a networking issue. Have you checked for errors in the NCU (Network Configuration Utility)?
