DL380 G4 Compatibility with Linux Suse 8 Enterprise Server
Hi there
I am trying to install Suse 8 Enterprise on a HP Proliant DL 380 G4.
At the moment to install Suse It does not recognize any hard drive, I guess is because it does not recognize the raid controller,
I am using raid controller HP model 6402 and 6i that is embeded on the server, I update the firmware for both but the problem stills.
Is there any part before install Linux or during the installation process that I can update the drivers for this array controller in order to linux recognize the Hard Disks?
I was tring with mirroring array but I check that I should use raid 0 in order to work, I did it but linux stills not recognizing any hard disk.
I tried to use smart start version 7.40 but the same I was expecting that linux was listed on the operating systems to be install also I tried to configure on the server's set up a linux for OS but for this version of DL380 that option is not used anymore..
Is there anything else that I should do to have Linux Suse8 working on DL380 G4.
can help me with
Thank in advance

Re: DL380 G4 Compatibility with Linux Suse 8 Enterprise Server
Hi,
do you have the service pack CD for SLES 8? Try booting from that first. It's been a while since I last installed Linux, but I remember having that problem with array drivers.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: DL380 G4 Compatibility with Linux Suse 8 Enterprise Server
Yes I have SP for SUSE 8, I tried to install it from it, here what I am doing.
1.- I am booting from SP1 CD for Suse8
2.- On the installation menu options, I am choosing --Manual Installation--
3.- On the main menu i am choosing.
--Kernel Modules (hardware/drivers)
4.- then i am choosing. -- Load IDE/RAID/SCSI module
5.- on the list of modules I am choosing for ---cpqarray compaq start2 raid--
The installation process ask for --parameters fro cpqarray--
Hit enter and the drivers is not loaded.
Any other Idea???
