DL380 G4 and DAT tape drive.
We have a number of DL380 G3 servers, and a DAT drive attaches no problem. WE have got a new DL380G4, and I can't attach a DAT via the 6i on-board scsi.
Get the message '1776-Slot 0 - SCSI Bus Error - SIngle ended SCSI enclosure or device attached. This controller model only supports LDV enclosures and devices.'
The same DAT (and cable) are fine on a G3.
I can't see any difference in the 6i raid controller specs on the G3 and G4 models.
I've checkes the new server is configured simples, so the external port is enabled.
The servers have 6 x 146 hot swap disks.
Anyone had a similar experience?
Cheers, Colin.

Re: DL380 G4 and DAT tape drive.
It seems as though your DAT drive is an SE(Single Ended) device. You would need an LVD (Low Voltage Differential) DAT drive for it to work according to the error message you are receiving.
The G3 has a 5i controller where as the G4 has a 6i.

Re: DL380 G4 and DAT tape drive.
Thanks Steven.
We've given up trying to fix it, and put an additional SCSI card in for the legacy kit, and all is OK.
