DL380G2 and USB2.0

I'm using this server in a home office environment with a SA5304.

I also need to attach a CD-RW/DVD and a scanner to it so...seeing that I can't use the 5i I need a USB2.0 card like the Adaptec USB2Connect 4 or 6 port.

Question: if I use this in PCI slot#1, will it effect the overall speed of the bus?

Does the server not have USB ports? Why don't you replace or add the CD-RW/DVD with the original IDE drive? This would also be a cheaper option if you're worried about costs.

Re: DL380G2 and USB2.0

1. Server has USB1.1, which would severely hamper performance for both these types of hardware.

2. I can replace the stock CD-ROM but the server is in a closet and getting up to access it may be a pain. Also, I may want to move the CD-RW to other machines so it'll have to be USB.

Re: DL380G2 and USB2.0

I never had a DL380G2 by the DL380G4 i have the CD drive comes out the front when you push a button. If this is the same on your server then you can easily swap it between servers.

It is a lot easier than installing a PCI card if the server is at the top of a rack.

Again, I need USB2 on this server. Is this doable as noted?
