Does anyone know of some DOS based diagnostic utilities for netserver devices such as hard drives, nics, etc.?

There is a dos based utility for a NIC:

Download the DOS drivers set, the utility will extract on the same diskette.

There is a dos based utility to verify or (low level) format media on adaptec controllers and symbios controllers.

For symbios press CTRL-C during Boot/post
for adaptec press CTRL-A during boot/post

For adaptec adapters that don't have CTRL-A there is a dos file package available at:
