ESX & DL580 G1 (4x 900Mhz Processors)

I have a compaq Proliant dl580 with 4 processors, we have recently purchase vmware and have installed it, the problem i have is with the fan speed, i have installed the insight agents (vers 7.4.1) which are running, the esx version is 2.5.3 patch 4 but i have noticed that the fan speeds are running at full throtle 100% of the time.
Is there any way to reduce the fan speed using esx

I would look at upgrading the management agents. The current is 7.60, but you need to check the HP site to see if it will run on 2.5.4

Hi I have noticed the the agents you have said to install are not supported for my model of server the DL580 G2 is but the G1 isn't??

Hi Jason,

I don't think there is any fan speed control for the DL580 G1. Not sure if that is a limitation of the server itself, or the agents. I have had both Win2003 and NetWare 6.5 with recent SmartStart agents loaded (ie 7.5 or 7.6) and there is no reduction of fan speed/noise.

come on HP surely there must be some way of reducing the speed of these fans using ESX server, please please please someone at HP help me
