Ethernet cards assignment to eth?
There are two Ethernet dual port NICs (on-board NC373i and extra Intel card) in our DL380 G5 ProLiant server. All ports configured for their respective networks. Unfortunately what happens is some times Intel card comes up first and gets eth0 & eth1 and some other times second and get eth2 & eth3. When the server comes up the wrong way the network setup is screwed and the server is unreachable. I tried to make sure via BIOS setting that it’s the NC373i which should be loaded first but this does not help. Perhaps I did not grok all the BIOS options.
I’d appreciate very much your suggestions.
