HELP! - SCSI issues (E60)

I have a NetServer E60 with one single 8 Gb SCSI disk. I have problems to reinstall a clean copy of Windwos 2003.

I have tried the following:

- updated BIOS to version 4.06.26 PN.
- run the SCSI Utility: selected the SCSI disK, formatted and verify the SCSI disk
- run NetServer Navigator M.02.00. However, the Navigator always freezes during its running
- run DiagTools Version 2.40.2. All tests passed except some SCSI tests.

Passed
SCSI Disk Self Test
SCSI Disk Read Test

Not Passed
SCSI Disk Boot Sector Test
"Invalid partition table one Drive 0"

Re: HELP! - SCSI issues (E60)

I have done this exact upgarde myself. My suggestion would be to NOT use the NetServer Navigator CD. You don't need this for Windows 2003 Server.

1. Boot from CD
2. Reload the OS
3. Press the F6 key when prompted
4. Build the partitons on the disk drive

I would recommend that you get a larger harddrive.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks, David.

After pressing F6, I believe the setup will ask for SCSI driver. What driver I should use? What is the latest Version?

Re: HELP! - SCSI issues (E60)

That depends on the controller. If you are just using the intergrated SCSI controller (Adaptec AIC-7895 Dual Ultra SCSI), It should already be contained within the Microsoft Windows driver list. The driver is aic78xx.sys. You may need to put this on a floppy or the system may have the latest version. If you are using a NetRAID controller, you should check HP's support website for the latest drivers.

Re: HELP! - SCSI issues (E60)

I am using the motherboard embedded scsi controler.

Here are some details:
Adaptec AIC-7895 SCSI BIOS v2.11.HP
The Hard Disk (9.10GB) installed on channel A with ID #0
The AIC-7895 Controller is on channel A and B with a ID #7

I did the following when the screen shows "Press Ctrl+A to run SCSI Utility.":
- run the SCSI Utility: selected the SCSI disK, formatted and verify the SCSI disk

If running the Windows 2003 setup, the system always halts after the format finished at 100% or during "Setup is coping files ... xx%".
