HP Net server LC 2000r

My question is:
I have Raid 5 setup on this server, the lc2000, the drives are in an array each with 18 gb. One of them failed; Can I add a replacement drive with 36gb or do I have to replace with another 18gb. AND if I can use the 36gb what problems will I face?

To my knowledge a RAID array will only use the amount of space on the drive that matches the lowest common denominator (18gigs). Yes you can use a 36 gig drive but you will only have access to 18 gigs of it--the rest is in the bit bucket...

Re: HP Net server LC 2000r

thanks for the answer.
Now the 36gb drive is from another machine, I don't care about the data thats on it. what are the steps to take to add this drive(36gb) to the array configuration? Do I have to do the add an array wizard at startup? And how to do it i guess that is what i am asking. thanks
