HP Netserver LXr doesn't boot anymore since yesterday!
Yesterday evening my HP Netserver LXr just turned itself off. I guess it was the power supply that is broken (only had 1 installed).
This morning I plugged 3 new power supplies in and tried to boot the server.
But I don't get any video signal and the server doesn't boot the OS.
Also the keyboard is not responding. Just when I turn on the server the three LED’s on the keyboard are flashing for a second.
Then I thought it would be good to do a CMOS reset. But I also had no luck with this.
I still have no video signal and Netserver doesn't boot.
The Netserver lamps in the front are all fine and don’t show any error.
Now I removed all unnecessary boards (RAID, LAN, SCSI DIFF,..) and tried it again (once with CMOS reset and once without). No success :(
I have two spare CPU's, so I replaced the CPU's with the spare ones but also no success.
Then I removed some memory, but also no success.
Removed SMB board, no success.
The server doesn't make any "beep" or shows an LED alarm.
What else could it be (worst case the mainboard?!)? Any idea?
I also have the SMB board inside; does anyone know what I can do with it? On the outside it has a plug like a network cable, what can I connect there?
Please help me, I don't have any more ideas.
Thanks.
Best regards,
c

Re: HP Netserver LXr doesn't boot anymore since yesterday!
I have another LXr Pro and I exchanged the CPU board of both. Then the server was directly booting.
Which means that the mainboard is ok and only the CPU board is damaged :(
Anyone who knows where to get a cheap cpu board? On eBay I can't find anything.
I also don't want to spend too much money on this "old" server, but I still like it.
Thanks.

To buy it as spare part from HP (if they have) is not the case. With the same amount you buy a new server.

Re: HP Netserver LXr doesn't boot anymore since yesterday!
I will watch eBay in future.
Anyway, I will get some new servers and now I have some more space ;)
It would have been better when the mainboard was crashing instead of the CPU board, so I could have used it in the other LXr and had a 4 cpu machine. Now I can only use the memory.
