HP ProCurve switch and HP Proliant server - gigabit speed unstable

We have one fidgety Windows XP Pro 2002-sp3 with Intel 82566-DM2 NIC that will not maintain the 1 Gigabit speed on its link. HP Proliant workstation.

We are using a HP ProCurve switch 5406zl. It will only speed-duplex set 10 and 100 half/full but not Gigabit.

The Intel NIC driver will allow you to only auto-negotiate to 1 Gig FDX.

Currently, the "link" is bouncing between connected and disconnected with this setup. If you leave it unconfigured, the link demodulates to 10 FDX which is unacceptable for our application.

We have already tried different cables and different ports on the switch.

The switch is running K.13.25 93 firmware version. Any ideas on how to solve this ?
