HP Proliant 1600

I am trying to connect an HP Surestore Tape Autoloader Model 1/9 to the External SCSI connector. I have disconnected the internal Dat loader by removing the cable. On boot no SCSI devices are found. I have just upgraded to Windows 2000 server and this runs OK. What do I press to configure the SCSI devices on boot.(Not HD Array). Any help on this would be most appreciated as I am not at all familiar with these servers.

Regards Paul

One thing that you can do? Press F10 when it show up, run HW configuration, it will update system Partition with removed and Installed new HW. Otherwise from POST or BOOT no needs to do. Next Step is Install Proper Drivers and Keep Server up to date with Firmware.

Run Library and Tape Tools

Load your back up SW and see if Tape Detected and you can run job.

Re: HP Proliant 1600

Many thanks for the advise and I have done all this and the server is really working well with Windows 2000. AS regards the Tape I had to get a special SCSI card as the L2 tape is not compatible with the 1600 standard SCSI interface it uses differntial SCSI. I found a card in a Sun server so took this and plugged it iinto the 1600. I updated the firmware in the tap and pow! it works like a dream.

Many thanks for your help I am going to update the other 4 1600's as it has given them a new lease of usfull life.
