HP System Management Homepage doesn't work on same server running OpenView

We have an OpenView server in our environment, and also we have a SIM server. All of the servers have been configured for SNMP to send their traps to SIM for SMH, and OpenView for OpenView. On the actual OpenView server, I get the "timeout" error when trying to open SMH, which tells me that SNMP isn't working the way it should. Is it because of the same server running the SNMP Trap service? OpenView seems to be working ok.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

has it worked before?
what version of Proliant support pack are you running?

there are two things that can cause this or the SMH to time out.

1- VCA (version Controller Agnet is running)
2- SNMP settings are not configured properly the way SMH is - example community string name "public" and trap destinations etc. Re-configure snmp settings.

PS: I would try to disable or stop the VCA from loading or running. See if your issue is resolved.

No, it has never worked. I am running SMH on both DL 585's and 385's. The server in question is a 585 running OpenView NNM and other OpenView software. It is the only server out of 20+ servers that doesn't work with SMH. I think it has something to do with OpenView being loaded on the same box. SNMP is configured just like all the other servers.

Just google HP HELP AND SUPPORT and pick the first one and download and install HP Active support Library and then HP Help and Support. here is the link it worked for me, there are many different versions. hope this helps http://h30155.www3.hp.com/helpandsupport/
