HPE microserver gen 10, ESXi and SMART
Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm Running a GEN10 Microserver with ESXI and a Quad HDD Raid in RAID 1 configuration on the internal Marvcel SATA controller. The Marvel - Volume which i created through booting into the interanl Marvel Bios is displayed within the ESXI - Host Hardwaredisplay. It can be used for VMs.
Unfuartunatly I'm not able to see the the bare metal Diskstatus within ESXI Host Hardware status. Is see only the Marvelvolume. Is there any way to display any HDD - Status / Health?
How about an separate SATA Controller Card HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR GEN10 or any other Card from the compatibility list: https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/Getdocument.aspx?docname=a00017196ENW
Is it possible to see all Disk Stati connected to the Controllercard?
Regards,
Andreas Gaßner

Re: HPE microserver gen 10, ESXi and SMART
Hi Andreas,
The HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 is not certified for VMware OS.
Refer Operating System Support feature on quickspecs page - https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=a00008701enw.
Yes, the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 supports HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 Controller.
But as the non-certified OS i.e. VMware ESXi is installed on the server, we cannot comment if expected HDD health/status would be visible.
HPE recommends to install supported OS on the server to avoid any unknown issues.
Regards,
KK
