HPEUSB.exe error - Bad volume label - BIOS Update not possible

Hello, I'm trying install this Bios update via USB drive:

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_e9bfdf20809a426cb16ef9cd81

I downloaded the file, executed the programm and started out of the extracted files HPEUSB.exe.

After choosing the USB device and pressing "Start" an error "Bad volume label" pops up. I tried 3 diffrent flash drives (2GB, 16GB, 30GB) but it always shows this error.

I found a youtube video, showing the same problem, but the version of the programm seems to be diffrent, I cant't change the file system in the programm.

How can I avoid the error message or prepare the flash drive without this tool?

IIRC you better use "Run as Administrator ...".

Hope this helps!

Hey Torsten

thank you for your answer! The error message still appears.

Is there an update for "HPEUSB.exe" or can i prepare the flash drive without this tool to update the BIOS?

Re: HPEUSB.exe error - Bad volume label - BIOS Update not possible

Found an alternativ solution: I used a SUSE Live image on a flash drive to install the firmware.

Used this firmware:

and OpenSuse Leap Live:

Note: to install the RPM package root rights are required (just type "su root" in the terminal)
