How to expand RAID5 using Integrated Smart Array 5i Plus running VMWare ESXi 3.5
Hi,
I have a DL760 G2 with Integrated Smart Array 5i Plus, and an existing 3 x 146GB RAID5 with VMWare ESXi 3.5 operating system installed on it. I wish to expand my RAID5 with a 4th 146GB disk, but I'd like some advice.
I've seen some mention on the forum about using ACU to expand RAID5 sets on-the-fly and I can find versions of ACU which refer to SLES and Windows but not one which mentions VMWare (if I insatall ACU in a Windows guest OS, then VMWare's emulation will probably hide the Smart Array hardware). Which software do I download to manage my Smart Array from VMWare?
I've also seen comments from 2005 about a 255GB limit on logical disk size, which I don't know if that's still relevant as the G2 server is from that era. Or does the latest ACU software run on the old G2 hardware?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Ken.
