How to install a new harddisk to Proliant ML 350

Hello,

We have Proliant ML 350 G3 series server. It has 2x36GB SCSI harddisks on a RAID-1 system.

36 GB is not enough any more. Hence I need to increase capacity. I was offered a 36 GB 15000 rpm SCSI harddisk (product code 286776-B22).

Is it enough to insert the new drive into one of the hot plug slots? And Windows2003 will recognize it as Drive D? Can I do that while server is running?

As a newbie, I will appreciate your answering my questions and giving me additional guideliness on installing a new harddisk drive.

Thanks in advance

No, not in that way.
First, you will have no redundance if you only add one harddisk, so you should add at least 2 new disks.
After inserting the disk(s) you have to run the array configuration utility, wich should be installed if you have installed your server with the smartstart CD.
There you can configure your new hardisk(s) you have to create a new array.

Then you can go to the windows diskmanager to create and format partitions.
You ca do all that while windows is running.
