How to upgrade Smart Array 6402/128 firmware/ROM on non-HP server?
Hi,
Please advice how to flash new firmware/ROM to the new HP Smart Array 6402/128.
It's installed on 3rd-party server and the HP Firmware maintenance CD complains with this message:
'The Firmware CD does not support deployment for this server.
Consult the support matrix on the HP website at
www.hp.com for a complete list of supported servers.'
Thanks in advance,
Andrew.

Re: How to upgrade Smart Array 6402/128 firmware/ROM on non-HP server?
Have you tried using either the online or offline update utilities available from HP's website? They can be found in the location below and are categorized by OS:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/family/model/5618.html?lang=en&cc=us
The online will run within the OS and allow the update to occur while running, but does require a reboot. The offline will create a supplemental diskette to be used in conjunction with the Firmware Maintenance CD, so that may not work for you.

Re: How to upgrade Smart Array 6402/128 firmware/ROM on non-HP server?
Hi Scott,
I've just booted up my server w/o Firmware Maintenance CD, then load it in, and autorun started application for firmware updating.
It was so easy, thanks!
With best regards,
Andrew.
