My SCSI disks are too olds and have problems. I want to install IDE disks to install Linux.
For tests, I put a 3.2GB HD, configuring EISA utility for type = 40 and put the informations that the HD have. I make this with other two disks and even the same error occurs:
Error code 1E1E. What I need to make to install these IDE
HD's ?
I already put another flat cable.
Can I install large HD's (60GB) in the server ?
Thanks
Mario

Solution
1e1e = Failure while attempting to read a sector on a hard disk drive.
Only thing I can think of that you haven't metioned, is making sure the jumpers on the drives are correct. Don't set your drive to master if you're using a cable select cable, etc. Larger hdd's may work. The sector translation on this controller is LBA, however, so the most it will see is 8.4gb

There's always room for J-E-L-L-O
