Re: Is DL380 G4 Server compatible with U3 HD ?
no physically they won't fit, unless you do that hard way.
More info about from Dl360 G3 ├в similar explanation as for DL380 G4
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EL021101_CW01
Only U320 drives can be used in
From G4: All
From G3: DL580, DL360, ML570 ML530
From G2: DL140, DL145
From G1: DL385 G1
Close to be correct

If there is a compaq Hot-Plug HD you can do it. If there is a non-hot plug drive you can do it too, but there is not an easy and not best way

Re: Is DL380 G4 Server compatible with U3 HD ?
If you read the label on the G4 when you got it says you can only run U320s in the server, that U3 will not work.
Now, technically they'll work (I did it here once) BUT if you ever have drive or RAID failures I beleive HP won't be able to replaced the failure under warrentee.
DL380G2, G3 and G4 hot swap drives are all identical physical dimensions.
