KVM Switch AG052A

We have a cabinet with 5 servers. ML370 & ML380.
We have been trying to install Red Hat linux from a CD on a ML370 G4. We select the server we widh to install from. When we get to the screen where we are asked to press enter to start the installation we receive a screen message that states it is recommended that the video be 1440 by 900.
Then the system will continuosly reboot.
The on board video card is detected as an ATI rage XL.
We can install if we use a monitor, mouse & keyboard plugged in to the ML370.

Re: KVM Switch AG052A

The more important question is if the software does install successfully with the direct connection of monitor, mouse and keyboard, then will it work ok when going through the KVM switch?

If it reboots through the KVM, does it reboot after a good installation from the Linux CD, or does it load successfully? I don't know Linux as much as I do know servers, but I would think that if the installation is successful, that it would boot successfully through the KVM, and you would have a good server.

You should get some more Linux-aware responses to see what is the correct approach and path for the server to function.

Re: KVM Switch AG052A

Clarification. We cannot complete the installation of software due to continuous reboots.
