ML 350 G3 Possible USB Drive causing drive errors?
Seems after I hookup a USB drive to the server it starts reporting Physical & Logical drive errors. The error message says:
Critical - 1/16/2004 7:01:26 AM - PhysicalDisk Error Code (from WMI) PhysicalDisk : Critical condition. WMI Status: 2147749889
Critical - 1/16/2004 7:01:26 AM - LogicalDisk Error Code (from WMI) LogicalDisk : Critical condition. WMI Status: 2147749889
What is this saying? Thanks

Craig:
Have a look at...

Proliant USB support is (IMHO) very limited and restrictive. I'm (sort of) surprised it go as far as it did....
Sorry, HTH

Re: ML 350 G3 Possible USB Drive causing drive errors?
I found out in another NG that w2k3 loads the DISKPERF's automatically. When the USB hd is connected it monitors it, then when it is removed w2k3 keeps monitoring. This causes the errors. So I ran the cmd DISKPERF -N & rebooted. Errors stopped. Then I thought I'd see if I could restart diskperf, rebooted server, now I get 2 diff performance errors I chased months ago. EXOLEDB & PSched. These 2 were caused the exact same way, - connecting USB hd to server.

Re: ML 350 G3 Possible USB Drive causing drive errors?
Have you tried to install a PCI card with USB 2.0 connectors to see if this will work error free for your USB drive?
I am being told that the error could be from the USB on the G3 being too slow.
Would appreciate any thoughts.
